Korea Health Insurance for Foreigners
Since 2019, foreigners staying in Korea for 6 months or more are automatically enrolled in Korea National Health Insurance (건강보험). This gives you access to Korea excellent healthcare system at subsidized rates.
Employed foreigners pay 3.545% of their salary, split equally with their employer. Self-employed or locally enrolled foreigners pay based on income, property, and assets.

Do I have to join Korea health insurance as a foreigner?
Yes. Since July 2019, most foreigners staying 6+ months in Korea are automatically enrolled in National Health Insurance (NHI). You must pay premiums even if you have private insurance. Some visa types (D-2 students, F-4 overseas Koreans) may have different rules.
Can I use Korea health insurance for my family?
Yes, your dependents (spouse, children) living in Korea can be added as dependents on your health insurance. Additional premiums apply for each dependent. Visit your local NHIS office or nhis.or.kr to register dependents.
